The Organization Profile

A working record of what we find.

Most engagements end with a report. This is a small, ongoing version of that, kept between engagements.

A working record of what we find, kept between engagements. It begins with your first engagement and is added to if you return, so we are not starting from zero each time.

Written to be read before anything is decided. There is nothing to schedule to continue.

What It Is

A working record, kept between engagements.

Useful understanding comes out of every engagement: why a market shifted, which decisions worked, where the real constraints were. Often none of it is written down anywhere durable. The Organization Profile is a plain, working record of what was found, so the next engagement does not start over.

Each engagement adds to it. It is a reference document, not a public claim about your organization.

Research Insight

US employee engagement fell to 31 percent in 2024, a decade low, and the share of employees who clearly understand what is expected of them dropped to 46 percent. Understanding that is not written down somewhere durable tends to erode.

A short list of what the Organization Profile is not, resolving beneath a gold rule into the line: it is institutional executive memory
What it is not, and what it is

It does not store data. It keeps a plain account of what was found.

How It Grows

Each engagement adds a little more.

Useful findings can get lost between decisions or when a leader changes. The Organization Profile is a small, practical way to hold onto them. Each engagement leaves the record a little fuller, and the next can refer back to it.

The Business Diagnostic begins it.
The Executive Brief adds to it.
The Blueprint, if you take it adds to it.
A later engagement, if you return builds on it.
One continuous gold band that widens from the first Diagnosis through Brief, Blueprint, Snapshot and Validation into the next cycle, never restarting, only growing
The Organization Profile is a working record. Each engagement is separate. The record is not thrown out between engagements, it is added to.

This is why a later engagement can start from what was already found, rather than from nothing.

What It Contains

A short, plain record, kept in one place.

The Profile holds only what is useful for the next decision. Everything else is left out. What remains is organized so you can answer four questions: what changed, why, when, and what evidence supports it.

Business IdentityThe business, its leadership, and the relationships that shape decisions.
Business and Market EvidenceMarkets, customers, competitors, position, and operational reality.
Diagnostic HistoryWhat was found in each engagement, kept in full.
TimelineThe major decisions and milestones, recorded as they happen.
Progress NotesWhat changed over time, and the evidence behind it.

A short, working record, kept in one place.

The Distinction

Leadership changes. Markets change. The record stays with the business.

People move on. Priorities shift. Years pass. The Organization Profile keeps a plain account of what was found through all of it, so the next engagement is not starting from nothing.

How It Is Protected

Kept honestly, so it stays useful.

A record is only useful if it is honest. The Organization Profile is kept so that its history holds up over time, not just for one engagement.

Research Insight

Across a study of 400 companies, role clarity emerged as the single strongest predictor of work engagement. A record that keeps track of how a business is structured, and why, helps protect that clarity as leadership changes.

Georgalis et al., 2015.
Continuity

Each engagement adds to the record rather than starting over.

Traceability

Every entry can be traced back to the evidence it came from. It does not hold unsupported assumptions.

Added to, not replaced

The timeline and diagnostic history are not replaced. New findings are added alongside what came before.

Neutrality

The Profile records what was found. It does not persuade or recommend on its own.

Judgment stays human

Artificial intelligence may help organize and retrieve the record. It does not alter what was found, and judgment stays with me.

Why It Matters

Keeping a record helps you learn from what came before.

The value is not the record itself. It is what it makes possible. A business that keeps a plain account of what was found can compare today against earlier points, see which decisions helped, and carry that forward into the next engagement.

If I work with you again, I can start from what was already found rather than from a blank slate. That saves time and avoids repeating work already done.

Research Insight

Fewer than 30 percent of companies have feedback that reaches every level of the organization. A record that carries findings across engagements is one way that useful information stops disappearing in the gaps.

Chen et al., 2009.

This is the difference between a series of one-off projects and a continuing working relationship.

Where It Begins

The record begins with your first engagement.

The Profile is opened with your first Business Diagnostic, before anything else is purchased. It is a small, working document, not a separate product to buy.
